The Canon EOS R is still a fantastic camera in 2022 and interest in it seems to be picking up. The big issue with the EOS R is the 1.75x crop when recording 4k video. To compensate for the crop you need a good ultrawide angle lens. In this video I’m going to show you what I feel are two of the best options from Canon. The EFS 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM is a perfect fit for the EOS R’s 4k crop and the 15 year old EF 16-35mm f2.8 L II USM. Both lenses are great on the EOS R and if you can find them used, offer an incredible value for money. Watch the video to find out more.

The EFS 10-18mm is small lightweight with lens IS making it the perfect vlogging lens for those of you who are always on the go. The EF 16-35mm L II offers L quality optics in an affordable package. It doesn’t have IS but would be great for people filming content from a fixed position. Also if you’re a hybrid shooter the 16-35mm L II is a great lens for photography so there’s that. Both these lenses offer great quality for price and will be a good addition to a kit that includes and EOS R. . . More on the blog.
