The Japanese Tea Ceremony has many names in Japanese: cha-no-yu, sado or ocha, which translates to the “Way of the Tea”.
The “way” stands for the perfect way that leads to awakening and peace of mind.
The Japanese Tea Ceremony is a ritualistic and ceremonial way of preparing, serving, and drinking tea, where it is used to promote mindfulness and harmony. Its purpose is to create a bond between the host and the guest to present harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity which we must embrace in order to achieve the main purpose of the tea ceremony. In Japanese culture, it is very important because it used to be practiced only by the elite zen monks and high ranking and noble warlords for most of the Japanese history.
