Tips and tricks for new nurses during med pass!

- Always try to start a hour before med pass
- Make sure cart is stocked: water, pudding, thicken liquids, pudding
- check to see who has appts, baths, visits with family members, activities times, smoke breaks
- Dialysis (early breakfast tray): no BP meds
- How the patient take meds: crushed in pudding/apple sauce, thicken liquids, one at time/all together
- PRN pain meds schedule
- Have report sheet or notebook to chart PRNs or resident complaints/needs
- Med refill sheet
- Get Refrigerated meds before hand
- Get to know who likes meds early/first or last
- Tube feeders: have water ready and extra syringes just in case, decloggers available, stethoscope to check placement
