East African region risks being hit by an economic depression in the future, if governments such as Uganda do not put in place the right policy actions enough to unlock the potential social and economic benefits from population growth.
Dr Mukisa Kituyi the secretary general UNCTAD warns that if nothing is done, this demographic evolution could turn out to be a risky, instead of an opportunity.
He was addressing guests at the EADBL conference Friday evening.
