LIVE: Landslide in Uganda Kills 15, Over 100 Missing as Homes Get Buried
At least 15 people have been killed and over 100 others are missing after heavy rains triggered landslides in eastern Uganda. The landslides struck six villages in the mountainous Bulambuli district on Wednesday night. Police confirmed the death toll and reported that 113 people are still missing. The Uganda Red Cross Society continues its rescue efforts, though the toll is expected to rise. In addition to the landslides, recent heavy rains have caused flooding in the northwest after a tributary of the Nile burst its banks, cutting off major roads and prompting emergency teams to rescue stranded motorists.
