The 1/2 hp motor, while certainly strong enough for this application, tended to run too hot. This was the wrong use for this motor. This motor was meant to be used for short periods of time, then allowed to cool off, as with a grinder, or disc/belt sander use It only has a one hour duty cycle, and in tumbling, will often get used much longer than that. So No Bueno there......
I got a free treadmill that I re-purposed the motor and control board, along with a cheap Amazon pulse width control for the variable speed. Getting it all mounted, wired, and a pulley setup for the T-mill motor's shaft is taking some time. I'm using the treadmill motor and circuit board on the wood frame I already made, because of the physically smaller amount of space my frame takes up. A person could use the treadmill and belt in some form or fashion, but it takes up too much room for me.......
I will make another video after the "upgrades" to this get completed
