In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Congress leaders emphasise the farmers' crisis and waving off loans will be a priority for the new state government. However, what exactly has the Congress - JDS alliance in Karnataka done with the similar poll promise made ahead of the elections. The government has vowed to waive off 44,000 thousand crores rupees of farm loans. It has been 7 months but according to the reports only 800 farmers have been benefited from loan waivers in the state.
