It takes a long time to regrind a ship line for research points. It is also very costly to do it that way as well because most likely, your repurchase your ships with each reset.
The smarter and most efficient way to do it is by adding your camo, economic and special signals that build Free XP all the time with every match you play.
Once you earn have the FXP, you can research multiple times and earn all your points in less than 1 hour. You will not have to spend extended periods of time without ships you loved, or spend time earning the XP to re-grind through ships you hate.

After your final reset there will be some additional XP or FXP cost. Researching the line includes the hull upgrades but not fire control, guns, torpedoes etc. You must research those again to add them back to you ships. You must also pay credits to purchase them again.
But the most important thing is getting the most bang for your buck though multiple simultaneous resets which saves you time, effort, FXP, XP, and credits.
