The eastern red cedar, or Virginia juniper, is one of the most common trees in the Eastern United states. It can be found east of the Great Plains, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.
The common nature of this tree makes for a very natural bonsai landscape scene.
This beautiful evergreen conifer is known for its tall trunk and peeling red toned bark. It is a very hardy tree, able to grow in many conditions.
In the late winter and early spring, it will produce plenty of juniper berries.
