With "Il Settecento: Una Selezione," the Sala delle Nicchie in Palazzo Pitti's Palatine Gallery is showcasing a selection of seventeen works aimed at representing the various aspects of the18th century. The selected paintings from the Uffizi collection - partly brought out of storage on this occasion - also pay tribute to the 250th anniversary of the death of Canaletto. Two of his views of Venice are shown alongside views of Florence, Rome and Naples, evoking the theme of the Grand Tour in Italy.
