This session will provide an overview of the recently released Report on K-12 Climate Change Education Needs in New Jersey and dive deeper into key recommendations. Strategies for interdisciplinary climate change education and both long- and short-term goals for teachers, schools, and communities will also be discussed.
The New Jersey Student Climate Challenge is a FREE program that provides a framework for students and teachers to learn about the causes and impacts of climate change. Students are encouraged to identify and complete a school or community project to address a cause or impact of climate change and submit a digital story video about their experience. Grants ranging from $2,500 to $500 will be awarded to schools with winning submissions in a middle school and high school category. Winning students and their teachers will be recognized at an Awards Ceremony hosted by the New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy.
