Looks like my first b lako shoot will emerge from one of the air layers which was started a month ago when all of these divisions were separated. There is lots of branching on every division especially the big one which lost 2/3 of its leaves, but based on my experience with bamboo, shoot growth will commence once the new branches are fully grown in another month and make these plants bushy.

The Java black bamboo is right about a month behind, but may catch up since I started with a much larger division so there may be lots of starches in the culm and rhizomes.
