As any farmer knows, there are many risks associated with farming that are outside of their control but affect their bottom line. Maybe the best example of this is extreme weather and natural disasters. As we’ve seen increasingly over the last few years, one extreme weather event can cause widespread crop failure or animal mortality — undoing months of labor, time, and financial investment. And from 30 years of answering farmer crisis calls on RAFI-USA’s hotline, we know that incidents like this can be a tipping point in a farm’s overall survival.
For that reason, we’ve created this video to provide an overview of how to approach disaster preparedness and recovery for your farm - as well as to give an overview of some disaster relief programs that are available, especially for farmers
