New York City Mayor Eric Adams thanked rookie police officer Tyler Frye for arresting Unitedhealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
“We, as New Yorkers, we appreciate it,” Adams said in a video call to Frye. “You did a great job! You took a dangerous person off the streets.
“You’re going to be the most popular police officer in your town,” Adams added.
Fryer, who’s been on the force for less than a year, said he never expected to be in the lime-light, but is thrilled to have played a part in capturing Mangione after a five-day manhunt.
“It was a great experience for me and I'm more than happy to take someone like that off the streets,” Fryer told Adams.
