In the video today we will make a British school classic Cornflake tart. This is one of my favourite childhood school desserts . It’s easy to make, with only a few basic ingredients needed. Serve it with a side of homemade custard to take it to another level.
Ingredients
Flour 200g
Butter 100g
Pinch of salt
2-3 tbsp water
Cornflakes 110g
Butter 60g
Golden syrup or syrup (recipe below) 125g
Brown sugar 30g
Strawberry Jam 120g
Instructions/tips
If you would like the perfect pie crust then leave the pastry hanging over during the blind bake then trim after it comes out of the oven. If you trim the pastry before the pre cook , it will shrink a little from your dish.
Once you have put the pastry in your oven dish, Place your pastry for a minimum of 30min in the fridge before baking.
Blind bake your pasty at 180c for 15min then remove the baking paper and place back in the oven for another 5min, until the base starts to pick up some colour.
Once you have placed the jam and cornflakes on top of the pastry place it back in the oven for another 5-8min until the cornflakes have picked up a little colour.
