Once a female shrimp has completed the mating process, her eggs will become fertilized and will then travel to the underside of her abdomen where she will carry them for about 25 - 30 days. This stage of the pregnancy is called the berried stage as the eggs look like little berries. The female will fan the eggs with her swimmerets to provide them with oxygen, keep them clean and to ensure that mold, and bacteria don’t grow on them. One thing to note is that these eggs can vary in colour from yellow to red to even green and they won’t affect the colour of the baby shrimp.
