Ford has announced a recall of 90,736 vehicles, including 2021-2022 models of the Bronco, F-150, Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator, due to a critical engine valve issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicated that the intake valves in these vehicles could potentially break while driving, which poses a significant safety risk. The vehicles are equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine. As a remedy, Ford dealers will perform engine cycle tests and replace the engines if necessary at no cost to the vehicle owners.
The intake valves can potentially break while the vehicle is in operation, leading to engine failure or other significant mechanical problems. This kind of failure poses a serious safety risk, as it could cause the engine to stop suddenly, increasing the chances of accidents.
