"For the Israeli people, to vote against the fence is to vote against our right for self-defence. This is something I believe that Europe must take to heart if it wishes to work with us to promote peace in our region. Israel believes that Europe can make a real contribution to the present opportunities, to rebuild the Palestinian authority and to promote peace in the Middle East."

"We discussed in a very serious way the situation of the nuclear programme in Iran and it's quite clear, we think that there should be no miscalculation, and Europe is ready, especially France, UK and Germany to stay committed to the process we started in Tehran, but it's quite clear that these agreements of Tehran and Brussels must be fulfilled."

STORYLINE:
German Foreign minister Joschka Fischer visited the "Yad Vashem" Holocaust Museum in Israel on Monday morning.
Fischer toured the museum exhibition, laid a wreath in memory of the six (m) million Jews who died in the holocaust during World War II, and signed in the visitor's book of the museum.
Also on Monday Fischer met Israeli Foreign Minister Sylvan Shalom and is scheduled for a series of meetings with Israeli officials and Israel prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Fischer and Shalom discussed Iran's nuclear programme and security in the Middle East.
The German minister is on a regional tour that will also include the Palestinian territories and Egypt.
He already has visited Lebanon and Jordan.
