The UCI World Cycling Championships is under way after the ten-day event kicked off across the country on Thursday.

Events will see some of the world’s best cyclists compete across 13 contests in the ultimate tests of talent, tenacity and toughness.

More than 8,000 cyclists are set to participate in the contests, from August 3 to 13, at a variety of interesting and picturesque venues across the country.

Among them are some of Scotland’s finest with no fewer than 30 Scots selected for the Great Britain squad.
