In the event of a crash the neck is placed under more pressure than its structure can manage. TAC’s interactive sculpture, Graham is designed to address this problem by simply having no neck at all.
Graham is the collaboration between the TAC, leading trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield, crash investigator expert David Logan and world-renowned artist Patricia Piccinini.
Removing the neck has sacrificed his mobility to make his head more resilient to injury in a crash. The ribs, a form of protection, have been extended upwards to reach his skull, fortifying his neck with a brace-like structure that protects his head from injury when there is a sudden movement.
