Persons exiting prison face a complex array of barriers during the transition to communities. Dr. Christian Sarver provided a brief overview of the social context of reentry, presented recent research examining the impact of a comprehensive treatment program on recidivism and substance use among recently-released inmates with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and shared recommendations for improving treatment efficacy for this high-risk population.
