Easiest install ever
I’m confused by other reviews. This is all aluminum except for the thumb button so I don’t know why anyone would say it is mostly plastic. Someone said you can buy a better one for half the price at Walmart, but they got it backwards since the cheapest one at Walmart cost almost twice as much as this one. Fortunately for me, this was the exact replacement for the broken handle on my screen door. I bought my house ten years ago so the old one lasted at least ten years as I don’t know how long ago it was installed before I bought the house. Installation literally didn’t take ten minutes including removing the old handle. It involved removing two screws, throwing the old handle out, sticking the new handle on to the door making sure to put the spring on the buttons shaft in the right orientation, tightening two screws and throwing away the left over unneeded parts. It comes with two pairs of screws of different lengths to accommodate doors of different thickness. I didn’t even bother replacing the little piece that attaches to the door frame for the handle to latch on to. If you have a thin screen door, you might have to shorten the shaft on the thumb button, but that should be easy as this is the only plastic part. Perhaps that’s why it’s plastic. (I had to shorten the steel shaft on a doorknob not too long ago and THAT was a PITA.) This was the perfect replacement for my application. Being exactly the same as the previous handle, I expect to get at least ten years out of it.
