The United Kingdom has slapped a fresh round of sanctions on businesses linked to the Myanmar military and confirmed plans to intervene in the 2019 case against Myanmar, initiated by The Gambia. This comes as Rohingya refugees mark the fifth anniversary of their exodus from Myanmar to Bangladesh. Meanwhile, former British ambassador to Myanmar Vicky Bowman has been arrested. She and her husband, a prominent artist, are said to have been taken from their home in Yangon and sent to Insein prison, which is known for holding political prisoners.
