Thanasis Kleopas, the wandering melodist, performs for us a melody with a LUTHIEROS lyre accompanying his deeply expressive voice. This is a very emotional and powerful song; it is about the unfortunate fate of a 17years old child, and her mother's lament when she found his dead body.
This melody is a cover of the song "The Τear of Psiloritis" by the composer Nikos Platyrachos. Find more details, along with the lyrics in English and in Greek, at the end of the description.

// The Story Behind the Melody
During the Nazi occupation of Crete in Greece, probably in 1943, German soldiers were searching for a young boy at the foot of Mount Psiloritis, who was hiding there. They believed that he had an active role in the local resistance.
With no apparent luck in their pursuit, the German soldiers began to fear punishment by their superiors. After hours have passed, they decided to do the unexpected. They have found another child, around 17 years old, and executed him instead, without even asking.
Hours later, the news reached his mother. When she saw her dead child, covered in blood, she cried out this dirge. Among the villagers who witnessed the mother's lament was the young Nikos Platyrachos. More than half a century later, he was the one who composed this song.

// Lyrics in English (loosely translated by Nikolaos Koumartzis)
This melody was first released in 2011 under the title "Το δάκρυ του ψηλορείτη (eng: The Τear of Psiloritis)", as part of the album "Onirografia" by the composer Nikos Platyrachos. The song was initially performed by the well-known Greek singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki.
You felt asleep among the roses,
And nothing can wake you up, neither my tears nor my laments.
Hypnos* who made him fall asleep among the roses,
[Listen to my sorrow]
Neither my whipping can wake him up, nor my laments.
I have no more hardihood living in this meaningless world.
Have mercy [Hypnos] and take me too, so as not to separate from my son.
// Original lyrics in Greek
