I am lucky enough to live in Bangkok and have been to visit many of the smaller less well-known lakes available within a 1-2-hour drive of the downtown. In this video we visited Bung Tong ครัวบึงทอง This is a big lake with fishing from the bank on only 1/3 of the lake. I have seen phots of alligator gar, arapaima, red tails and Pacu coming out of this lake as well as all the standard Thai fish. Its 100B a rod and that includes 2Kg of tilapia to take home. They sell bread and ram bait at 25b a bag. We spent most of the day fishing with chicken hearts but brought these before we got to the lake. Renting the boat is 100b a day. If you are planning on getting the boat get a good chair after 7 hours of siting on a bucket I was in pain.

I was very happy to spend the day here and see 2 good Pacu and 3 chao phraya come out. I will be heading back in the future as I am sure we can get some better Pacu out and who knows maybe a Redtail or an alligator gar. At this time January ½ the lake is closed as the owner wants the fish to have somewhere to relax and bread but come April, he will allow fishing at the other end of the lake.
