STORYLINE:
Northern Alliance troops on Friday searched ransacked houses in Kabul which was allegedly used by groups connected to the al-Qaida network.
Soldiers found documents in Arabic and Russian during a search of one house, which appeared to be military manuals.
Since the Taliban were driven out of the Afghan capital, a number of buildings have been uncovered as supposed al-Qaida safehouses.
Meanwhile, Afghans attended Friday prayers on the first day of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.
