.A resident pod of whale sharks reside in the area of Kaimana, West Papua, Indonesia. We had the good fortune to spend several hours, and multiple dives with a 6 meter (19 foot) juvenile female feeding around an Indonesian fishing 'Bagan'. Swimming with this animal was amazing! Her awareness and intelligence were readily apparent. Powerful and gentle, always aware of the multiple diver's in the water, and yet never bumping, brushing, or grazing anyone. The flukes and the body of this giant would get within inches, and then move ever so slightly to avoid collision.Truly an amazing encounter with an amazing creature!
