Everyday, thousands of people around the world enter the water in places where sharks are hunting, and yet the number of shark related fatalities is very low, between 5 and 10 each year.
Despite this, sharks, especially the great white shark, have a reputation problem, and are often vilified in the media. While most people will never see a shark, the information they get about them tends to come from news reports, documentaries and even films!
Dan has spent many years working with sharks around the world, both filming them underwater, and working on a great white shark cage diving boat in South Africa. He believes that understanding a sharks individual personality is key to explaining a sharks possible interactions with a human.
Dan (aka Sharkman Dan), introduces us to some of the great white sharks he has gotten to know over the last few years, including his personal favourites. He also goes through a number of shark behaviours he’s witnessed, and helps us to be able to relate to some of these sharks personalities.

Since a young age he has been fascinated by large marine predators, and after working with great white sharks in South Africa, began travelling around the world to film different species underwater. Dan has been as close as it’s possible to get to sharks and has learned a great deal about their behaviour, both with each other and with us. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
