The Victorian Journalist Who Went Undercover at A Insane Asylum
In Season 2 of American Horror Story, we are introduced to Lana Winters, or as Sister Jude would say, "Lana Banana." She is a journalist who finds herself inside a horrific insane asylum. It turns out that Lana is inspired by a real investigative journalist named Nellie Bly, who had herself committed to New York's Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island in 1887 to uncover the horrific treatment of patients.
