I've finally got to ride on a Nova 3!
After 2 years I finally managed to get on one but I wasn't able due to covid 19 & Lockdowns what seem to never end.
Anyway Transpennine Express have 13 sets of 5 coaches hauled by class 68 locomotives.
The fleet is 68 019 - 68 032 which has the name Destroyer.
Nova 3 was supposed to replace the class 185 DMUs on the Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough service, the Manchester Piccadilly to Hull & the Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough & now Redcar Central route.
However due to short platforms, signalling problems & technical problems with the 68 they only operate on the Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough route, however since the covid pandemic the route now only goes between York & Scarborough however 1 daily service from Liverpool & 1 to Manchester Victoria.
The class 185s are still the main train for Transpennine Express as they are used on the Manchester Airport to Redcar Central service, the York to Scarborough service, they'll remain on the Manchester Piccadilly to Cleethorpes service, the Leeds to Huddersfield stopper service and all of the other services when Nova 1s, Nova 2s & Nova 3s are available.
We have 68 023 which is named Achilles whilst operating the Transpennine Express service from York to Scarborough.
1st class on these is located in coach E & how I managed to get into 1st class because there was an offer online.
Times of this particular service.
York 11:00
Malton 11:24
Seamer 11:42
Scarborough 11:52 where the train terminates however it usually arrives a few minutes early.
Enjoy
