You probably don't know much about metal antimony. To start, it has many exciting allotropes, But what is an allotrope? An allotrope is a different structural form of the same element, exhibiting distinct properties due to variations in the Arrangement of atoms. By tweaking the Arrangement of atoms in the structure, we can get wild properties, and antimony has probably the best allotrope out there. This allotrope, known as explosive antimony, does what it says on the tin and explodes if you touch it. But to explore this property, we first have to make the antimony metal, and that's the goal of this video. Then, the following week, we will make the explosive antimony allotrope.
