Hey everyone!
In this video, I'll show you guys how to make a simple bottle opener, and put a sweet twist on it in the process!
I apologize about the sound in advance.
It's almost impossible to record any video while my forge is running, and I'll just have to change that in the future!
Moving forward, I started out by putting a taper on the end of my 1/2" square bar, keeping width, but slimming down the height. After I reached a "roughly" 3" inch taper, I bent my piece into the desired shape.
As you'll notice, my first bend on the square bar didn't come out very pretty, but my test piece came out great!
After the pieces were bent, I laid the 1/2" bar out for cutting.
Measuring between 3-3½" for handle length, cut your notches and grooves before you cut the total length of the opener.
( Leaving this piece long makes twisting much easier )
On my handle, I cut a notch every ¼" inch, all the way down the handle, on apposing sides.
Then, you'll cut your groove down the center of the handle, on all four sides.
After this, it's ready for a twist!
Give it some heat, and twist away.
I did a single 360° twist on mine, but you could do more, or less if you like!
