The Iranian Armed Forces (Persian: نيروهای مسلح جمهوری اسلامی ايران‎) comprise the Army (Artesh), the Revolutionary Guard Corps (Sepāh) and the Law Enforcement Force (Police) of the Islamic Republic of Iran.All branches of armed forces fall under the command of General Staff of Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics is responsible for planning logistics and funding of the armed forces and is not involved with in-the-field military operational command.
The Iranian military, which is equipped with relatively modern sophisticated US-made military equipment delivered before the 1979 Iranian Revolution, has been described as the Middle East's "most powerful military force" by retired US General John Abizaid, former CENTCOM commander.


The Saudi Arabian Armed Forces (Arabic: القُوَّات العَرَبِيَّة السُّعُودِيَّة المُسَلَّحَة‎) SAAF also known as Royal Saudi Armed Forces are the military forces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They include the General Staff of the five services responsible for the defence (in order of precedence) the Army, the Navy, the Air Forces, the Air Defense, and the Missiles Force, under the Minister of Defense (MOD). The Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) falls under the administrative control of the Ministry of National Guard, instead of the MOD, also as the Royal Guard and Border Guard forces. In addition, the Arabian Kingdom maintains large paramilitary forces under the control of the Ministry of Interior. There is also GIP which is the general military intelligence service.
The SAAF are one of the best-funded defence forces in the world.Saudi Arabia has the world's third largest defense budget.
