Facts about Saint Francis Xavier:
1. Birth and Early Life:
Birth: Saint Francis Xavier was born on April 7, 1506, in the Kingdom of Navarre (present-day Spain), specifically in the town of Javier, named in his honor.
Family Background: He was the youngest of ten children in a noble family. His father, Don Juan de Jaso y Alvarez de Eulate, served as a privy counselor and finance minister to King John III of Navarre.
Residence: Raised in a castle that still partially stands today, it is currently maintained by the Jesuit order.
2. Education and Joining the Jesuits:
Early Education: Francis Xavier received a comprehensive education, studying languages, philosophy, and theology, which prepared him for his future missionary work.
