Curves, the women's fitness franchise in Orleans, organized a unique fund-raiser for Lower Cape Outreach Council.
On April 2, in the cold and drizzle, members pushed grocery carts full of more than 1,000 pounds of groceries collected at the gym over the past few months, and personally delivered them to the Lower Cape Outreach Council office on Brewster Cross Road in Orleans, about a mile from Curves's Bay Ridge Lane location.
Lower Cape Outreach Council is a nonprofit organization, serving the needy in the eight towns on the Lower Cape. It has eight food pantries, from which qualified recipients of council aid can "shop" at no cost. The council has had a huge increase in food requests this year.
