The hit Exhibition "Africa: The Art of a Continent" is now showing for the first time in Germany, after a successful run at London's Royal Academy of Arts.
Its expected to repeat in Berlin the overwhelming public and critical success it enjoyed in Britain.
Berliners have an extraordinary and unique opportunity to view some of Africa's masterpieces, ranging from ancient Egypt and Nubia to breath -taking works from Sub- Saharan and Islamic North Africa.
Africa is the cradle of humanity: Man's earliest remains have been found here, and no other continent has so long a cultural history.
"Africa: The Continent" begins with the earliest manifestations of human creativity.
This quartzite implement found in Tanzania dates back some 1.6 million years.
The "portable" painting from the Apollo 11 rock shelter in Namibia , now exhibited for the first time in Europe, is 27, 000 years old.
Also on display - the first hand worked stone implements of the dawn of the human race- and Zulu earplugs made in the 1950s.
The aim of the exhibition is to set out a cultural history of Africa - and its intended to bring its' European audience a greater understanding of the continent's art.
The exhibition has been divided into seven geographical zones, leading the visitor clockwise.
It starts off with the cultures of Ancient Egypt and Nubia by way of Eastern and Southern Africa to Central and West Africa.
Eventually going by way of the Sahel and then back to Northern Africa.
Within each region, works of contrasting periods and cultures to be seen.
The diversity of materials is astonishing: works made of animal dung, metal, ivory, cloth, clay and gold appear together with unsurpassable wood carvings from every region of the continent.
From Berlin the show will move onto New York - to the Guggenheim Museum.
