Steve Conboy of the Institute of Defensive Building Practices explains the latest burn demonstration using three types of floor trusses. The one on the far right is made of raw i-joist, the middle truss is also i-joist but using Eco Red Shield (tm) protective coating, and the left floor truss is the new open-web floor system from EBuildAndTruss.com which has many benefits over other floor systems. The Eco Red Shield (tm) protective coating provides a QAI Class "A" Fire Rating to the treated lumber. The demonstration shows that the protected lumber floor systems did not ignite during the fire demonstration, while the unprotected raw lumber i-joist (on the right) continued to burn until it collapsed.
