In this next video in my 130 year old antique piano restoration series, I prepare the keytops on my 1890 Ivers & Pond upright for filing and notching. In the last segment, I glued on the new plastic keytops onto the key sticks, and I've got a few odds-n-ends jobs to take car of before I start filing and notching them.
I spend time in this video aligning the keys to each other so the fronts are even, and then I score the notch marks on all the keys as a set using a straightedge so that all my notches come out straight once the job is done.
