(26 May 2014) FIVE WHITE TIGER CUBS ON SHOW IN AUSTRIA
Five white tiger cubs recently born in a zoo in Austria, were shown to the public on Monday (26MAY14).
Zoo owner Herbert Eder said it was rare for a tiger to bear so many cubs in one litter, and if they do, the offspring do not often survive.
White tigers originate in India and Bangladesh and are popular in zoos.
Eder credits the good health of his tigers to the fact that they live in a big open air zoo located in the Austrian mountains where the animals can roam relatively freely.
Several hundred white tigers have been bred in zoos and wild animal parks around the world, though many conservationists say efforts should be focused on less inbred tiger varieties
