Forget everything you've read about needing a Ph. D. or 10+ years of experience to break into data science because it's simply not true. If you are overwhelmed by the idea of landing your first data-science role, this is for you!

Step 1: Learn Data Science Skills
To get a role within data science you do need a strong foundation in math, statistics, probability, programming languages like Python, R, or SQL, an understanding of data visualization tools, and yes, even soft skills like storytelling and business acumen. This can all be learned online.

Step 2: Get Relevant Hands-On Experience
Now you may be thinking, how do I get experience without a job, but that's easy - sign up for a hands-on BootCamp, internship, or Hackathon experience, work on open source projects, or even do a home lab where you work on projects that can later serve as a RIO project for your target company. As a former recruiter, I can assure you, all of this experience counts, especially if you document it which brings me to my final tip.

Step 3: Showcase Your Skills
The proof is in the puddling or in your case a resume, LinkedIn Profile, and GitHub portfolio. You can't just list skills and expect people to believe you, you have to SHOW them. And in this presentation, that is exactly what I will be focusing on.
