The API 550A & 550B eqs are sold together as a bundle: [ Ссылка ]
In our video "Waves MV2 on Drums" [ Ссылка ] we explain how with a combination of low level and slow compression we can enhance the sound of the #drum bus in parallel. In that video we also suggest that the output volume of MV2 be reduced to avoid clipping on the channel.
In our video about "New York Compression" [ Ссылка ] we complement this information by adding a smile curve with Sonimus Sweetone... Today we will do the same using Waves API-550A but with a different twist as we will see after.
In this video we are going to turn ON the ANALOG button of the API-550A (it can be the API-550B as well if you prefer the extra bands for further shaping). This button not only includes the noise of the original circuit but also adds the #saturation of the hardware. Since this saturation in very subtle and almost imperceptible at conventional input levels we will use the OUTPUT control of MV2 to oversaturate the API which will generate analog distortion. Look how the signal exceeds 0 in the VUs of the #API. Now all we have to do is blend the compressed and colored signal with the original signal in parallel and find the best balance between the two which must be in a lower position of the fader...
