There are many preconceived notions about the construction industry––it's all about the money, getting the best deal, or screwing people over. Because of that, systems and contracts exclude empathy and ignore the 'behind-the-system' human beings making them work. This pattern of behavior has also led to the deterioration of mental health of our industry's hardworking men and women.
In this session, I want to break down how we do business in construction, both as producers and consumers, and how we can be the catalyst for change. We do not have to accept this as the way of operating and can work together to shift towards a human-centered approach to construction. The buildings we produce are meant to serve people throughout the process and we have the opportunity to make the building process more human-centered as well.
