Vertical Blinds DIY Fix
Our vertical blinds were broken for so long, we had forgotten how they actually worked. Instead of pulling on the chain we removed the chain when a piece inside the pulley mechanism broke and used the ropes instead. When the piece broke more where we could no longer retract or extend the vertical blinds, we set out to fix them ourselves.
Knowing that we didn’t know what we were doing, we videotaped the process in hopes that it helps you avoid some of the pitfalls and misconceptions we encountered. As you will see, at times, we thought we had it figured out, but it turns out that we had to change our minds as we continued and discovered what had actually happened to our vertical blind pulley.
At first we didn’t even know the key words to use to search for the part. This is what we eventually found in case this or something similar works for you.
What we finally found was that it is called a Vertical Blind Control Set and cost around $12 without the chain. Ours was the Vertical Blind Control Set with the Tilt Control & Idle-End Return. Item #: VRT-CNT99-Set. It's important to measure and look for a part with the same measurements. Also, we learned that the track itself is called a Headrail and the headrail can be either "Notched" or "Notch-Less". Ours is notch-less. The notch is the extra opening on the lip of the rail that exposes the two wheels.
We aren't affiliated with them, but we got this our part at this link [ Ссылка ]
(Remember to double check the measurements and style that work for your project)
Also, originally we thought we could change the piece without removing the track. It seemed a daunting task to remove such a big track. But, it turned out to be one of the easiest parts to do.
