Clive Barker's Undying
Ignore what I say in my commentary about when the game came out. This *2001* game from DreamWorks Interactive (now EA Los Angeles) was fantastic, but sold very poorly. (Possibly due to poor advertising. The first I heard of it was when I bought it in a 2-pack with American McGee's Alice for $10.) Because of its lousy sales, the proposed mulitplayer patch and sequel were dropped.
It's a shame, really, because the world of Undying is a fascinating one... It's a great, though not seamless, blend of action gaming and horrific atmosphere, in large part thanks to Clive Barker, who was brought in to develop the backstory and overall plot.
Patrick Galloway, Irish expatriate, WWI veteran, and occult expert, is summoned to the estate of his old commanding officer, Jeremiah Covenant, to investigate a series of strange goings-on.
Being a Clive Barker story, Undying explores the extremes of human behavior and what drives obsession.
Being a first-person shooter, the story often takes a back seat to shooting things.
There are many things to shoot on the Covenant Estate, and an interesting array of weapons (and spells) to shoot them with.
There's also a pretty good story amidst all the carnage.

Sorry for the audio skipping in the game. It's actually MY fault, not the game's. I attempted to record both game footage and webcam footage separately, and the two programs made the game lag.
My bad.
To make matters worse, the facecam file suffered incredibly bad frame drop, making it useless, which means the video suffered for the sake of something I ended up not including.
Live and learn, I guess.
