Presentation summary:
Today’s social networking was created to optimize profit without regard to the impact it had on the people—and societies—that used it. We now have the opportunity to reset the way this system works. Blockchain technology gives us all an opening to take the world’s social networks away from private companies, a critical step in dismantling the surveillance economy. But how do we do it in a way that enables and encourages technologists to examine the impacts of what they create from ideation through delivery? Denise shares learnings from the DSNP team’s work with the Georgetown Ethics Lab on designing ethical tech, and how Polkadot’s architecture uniquely unlocks the opportunity to bring this work to the scale of mass adoption.
