RACE REPORT - Javelin Sprintdays Round 3 - Croft Circuit
After opening the season with back-to-back class wins at Blyton Park, it was time to make the long journey up to Croft. We were super motivated to make amends and banish the demons of 2023 where we failed to maximise the car and crashed into the tyre barrier.
In the lead-up, we'd re-plumbed the rear brakes hoping for better consistency, but also meaning we'd have to drive carefully and learn as we go.
This was our second event in class J09, for cars up to 2000cc - with 210hp or less.
Disaster nearly struck before our first timed run, when despite performing perfectly during practice, the car cranked but failed to fire. The problem was traced to an electrical lead interfering with the ECU and once rectified, we sprinted the length of the pit lane to sneak a time in at the final moment.
That first time (1:40.35) put us straight to the top of our class and we never looked back, eventually firing in a 1:38.08 on our 5th and final run. This was enough to clinch the class win, with a margin of 3.94s to 2nd place.
Thanks to the marshals and also to Peter & the gang at Javelin Sprintdays. We'll see you all again for Round 4 at Cadwell Park!
RESULT: 1st of 6 in class J09, 22nd of 67 overall
