Led by the Africa Women and Gender Constituency, Action Nexus, and Akina Mama this event will bring together African economists and climate experts to unpack the intertwining relationship between the climate crisis, debt, tax, and extractive industries on the continent, with a gender lens. A panel discussion will explore new analysis, building from African feminist perspectives, on the “triple crisis” of debt, climate, and COVID-19; on the relevance of the “5Rs” framework of tax justice to economies characterized by high levels of resource extraction; and on feminist approaches to macroeconomics and climate finance.
