This is the newest addition to my milsurp rifle collection. This is a MAS 49/56 converted to .308 by Century Arms. The MAS 49/56 was the main battle rifle used by the French during most of the Cold War years. The original military cambering for this rifle was 7.5x54mm French. Years ago Century Arms imported a batch of these rifles and converted them to the more common 7.62x51mm or .308 Winchester cartridge. These imported rifles kind of gave the MAS 49/56 a bad name because the converted rifles were plagued with reliability issues. When I saw this one go up on Empire Arms' weekly e-mail sale I couldn't resist adding it to my collection. As it turns out I guess I got a good one because it has been a very good shooter with no malfunctions so far. The rifle is in really good shape with a fantastic bore and it seems to be pretty dang accurate. This battle rifle is one of the most fun to shoot in my entire collection. It is a literal blast with that odd looking muzzle brake. Ordering from Empire Arms is a bit of a process but it was a great experience. They did a fantastic job of packing the rife for shipping and the shipping speed was great.
Thanks for Watching!
