The Indian Railways is on a Green Mission
It commissioned 142 MW of solar plants and 103 MW of wind power plants until October 31, 2022
It started using Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) trains and mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains
Railways further adopted head-on-generation trains
They reduce noise, air pollution and diesel consumption
Green certification of Industrial units, stations and other railway establishments are other measures
Railways also did the environmental system certification of some railway stations
It also installed waste-to-energy plants
The goal is to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2030
