More than two dozen are dead after Syrian rebels launched attacks in rural parts of Aleppo earlier this week, despite a ceasefire being in place since late 2019.
The United Nations (UN) says at least 27 people have died, including eight children. Syria's state media is reporting that four of those killed died in the city after rebels fired at dormitories at a university.
The attacks caused heavy losses to the Syrian military, with officials in Damascus looking to rally allies to prevent the civil war from flaring up.
